Hopeful Horizons: Climate Storytelling Contest

Presented by Creative Colloquy in partnership with the City of Tacoma’s Health Department

How do you stay hopeful in the face of climate change? What does resilience look like in your community?

Creative Colloquy and the City of Tacoma’s Health Department invite Tacoma residents to take part in Hopeful Horizons: Climate Storytelling Contest, a celebration of creativity, community, and climate resilience.

Building on our earlier Climate Stories partnership, this project invites you to reflect on community-created climate art and respond with your own short, expressive piece.

Use the artwork provided as your inspiration and share your creative response in one of these forms:

  • 6-word stories
  • Short slogans, taglines, or micro-poems
  • Rhyming jingles or hopeful phrases

Think of bite-sized expressions of hope and action, messages that capture optimism, resilience, and connection, ready to be shared across social media.

Awards & Recognition

To spark participation and celebrate creativity:

  • (4) standout submissions will each receive a $100 gift card
  • (5) honorable mentions will each receive a $25 gift card

Winning entries will be:

  • Featured on Creative Colloquy’s website and social channels
  • Showcased during a live Creative Colloquy storytelling event the week of November 17 (date & venue TBD)

Through this project, we’ll gather authentic, locally rooted stories that:

  • Reflect how Tacoma residents feel about climate change and community action
  • Offer creative, shareable messages of optimism and preparedness
  • Amplify voices across communities, especially those most impacted by climate challenges

Use art as your spark, and let your words shape a hopeful vision for Tacoma’s future, one story, rhyme, or phrase at a time.

We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
